Breaking Through Peer Learning Meeting
April 19-21, 2006
In April, Cuyahoga Community College in Cleveland hosted the second peer learning meeting of the
Breaking Through initiative. The meeting explored roles that community colleges can play in helping low-skilled adults gain the skills and credentials they need to obtain family-supporting careers. Three learning strands were explored: accelerated learning, support services, and an occupational-focused strand in health care.
Attending the meeting were representatives of all
Breaking Through colleges and the newly launched
Breaking Through initiative in North Carolina, along with other leaders in the community college field. Also attending were staff from JFF and the National Council for Workforce Education, and the initiative funders, the Charles Stewart Mott Foundation and the North Carolina GlaxoSmithKline Foundation. The materials from the meeting are available for downloading.
